Speechless

OH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE!
It's really cool and sort of a fashionable camera bag with gold details that complement the green in an extraordinary way! It's such a Julia bag, it's ridiculous and I'm on clouds right now and I probably will be for the rest of the week.

I think they might know me too well...
I graduated this week! A totally different graduation from my American one last year, yet another event that marks the end of an era. I had a fantastic day from beginning to end complete with a champagne breakfast and a reception for all my friends and family.
Dressed head to toe in white and with the traditional graduation hat it all felt very special and I almost couldn't believe that my time had finally come. I wore a new pair of Chloé heels, a Hogan bag and a dress from last year's H&M Conscious Collection.
I received a lot of beautiful, beautiful gifts but a few stood out amongst the rest. A basket filled to the brim with goodies like Voluspa scented candles, china, tea and a Fashionista book was one of them as well as pink champagne and the book "Icons of Fashion." My friends do know me all too well.

SometimesYouJustNeedALittleBitOfDrama
After many posts of preparation, last Monday it was finally time for prom. My dress paid a visit to the tailor's and came back just the way I had wanted it.
A dress perhaps more suited for a more tropical climate, it definitely stood out amongst all the Grecian goddess dresses! Everyone looked absolutely stunning though, and we all had a great time. My dress and clutch were from yet another great designer collaboration, Matthew Williamson for H&M from a few years back.
Ruffles, sequins and an exceptionally cut back along with a crazy pattern I was worried that the dress would be a little too much but I decided to take on the challenge. I think it turned out quite well, at least I had a great night dancing in it!
I decided to put my hair up in a sporty yet elegant braided ponytail. Because of the ruffles on the bottom of the dress, letting my hair out would made it all too heavy and too much. An updo with statement earrings and a well-balanced make-up complemented the dramatic flare of the dress without making it over-the-top.
It turned out to be a terrific night and feeling good about the outfit was a great start!

From Day to Night
A couple of weeks ago my mom came home after a bargain hunt for me with these polka dot pants in navy, red and white. Even though they remind me a little bit of a fourth of july-firework, they're quirky and pretty cool if you wear them right.
Yesterday was my first time wearing them and I actually liked them so much that I decided to wear them when going out at night as well as during the day, making them the perfect feature in a "Day-to-Night"-post.
These pants are, due to the print, quite attention-demanding which means that for the day, whatever you wear them with has to be subtle and not to colorful. No one wants to walk out the door looking like a stand-in at the circus... Normally not a big fan of black, I felt it worked well yesterday. All the pieces added were very low-key, allowing the pants to be the focus and the black Wayfarers and jean jacket also brought a bit of much-needed edge to the look since the pants have a sweet cut and print.
For going out, the matching options aren't as limited which I thought was fun! I dared to add another color in the mix, a light pink and gold clutch as well as my sparkly H&M-goes-Prada earrings. Heels instead of ballet flats and a blouse instead of a t-shirt took the outfit from day to night, complemented by a daring blue-and-black smokey eye, perfect for the protective darkness of night fall.

Christie Brinkley |
My good friend Jackie and her family are close friends with Ms. Brinkley and I was fortunate enough to get to go with them to NYC and meet her backstage when she was in Chicago on Broadway. She's so friendly and nice and it was incredible to get to spend some time with such a driven and successful woman!
