Walking on Sunshine

Now that the sun's finally out, it's obvious that we're gonna start craving new shades! While in New York it was impossible not to notice an on-going trend in sunglasses namely, cat-eye glasses. I tried on this gorgeous, fun pair in Henri Bendel's that I think were Miu Miu? Not sure though, so don't hold it against me haha.

However, when digging through the drawer at home containing all of my parents' old sunglasses I found that this trend is a recycled one! This brown pair of Ray Ban Cats will definitely be worn again this spring. Say hi to the 80's again, 'cause it keeps representing even in 2012!

"I'd be a baglady. A Fendi-baglady but still a baglady..."

A package filled to the brim with bags that my mom bought just arrived at our house yesterday. Some new purses always bring some variation which can be necessary sometimes in order to change things up a little. I don't have that many small bags for going out so this order could not have been more perfect. They are all from H&M (no surprise there right?) and in stores now.

Love the beige and green suede one,
it'll be great for summer nights out!

Favorite Ballerina Flats

Worn with tights in NYC

The sun finally decided to come out today! It was quite a quick appearence but it was still enough for me to dig out my favorite flats from my closet. I got them in the fall but wasn't able to wear them much. Tod's are the most comfortable and cute flats there is and I loved wearing them again even though it got a bit chilly after a while.

Totally worth it though!

She did it again.....

.....Miuccia Prada that is. I have mentioned before my fascination with Prada and the innovative mind of the head designer. The new collection for spring incorporates something that I feel is superimportant, namely that the F in Fashion also stands for FUN. Have fun with your clothes and your style! The auto- and 1950's-inspired collection is bright, bold and fun while it still oozes the classic sophistication of the Prada brand.

Enjoy and become inspired by the S/S12 ad campaign below!

Budget vs Luxury

It's not unusual to see how trends can filter from the top runways to the department stores. Here are a few examples of how keeping up with the trends for spring is something that can suit every wallet, from budget to luxury!

Trend #1: Paisley/Ethnic print
Trend #2: Pleated maxi
Trend #3: Studded accessories

Dare to Wear.. Anything Bright!

For a few weeks now I've been searching for a new evening bag, preferably a clutch. Marc by Marc Jacobs is my top choice and I've fallen in love with several of the new bags for spring, available in all the brightest shades of the rainbow. I'm actually looking for something more neutral that goes with anything, but who can really resist the fierce and fun that comes with adding a pop of color!

Spring Inspiration

Right now all I can think about is how I'm dying for the warm weather to just get here already! I'm practically jumping up and down in excitement over the thought of soon getting to wear the pastel-colored garments piling up in my closet. Until then, I'll have to suffice with inspirational pics from my most recent mood board hovering over my bed with the latest trends from the greatest brands.

In LOVE with Taylor Swift's beautiful February cover of American Vogue!

Beautiful Bendel's

Of course a visit to NYC also meant a visit to one of my favorite department stores, Henri Bendel. They had just gotten in a lot of new things for spring and I love the whole vibe in there, with the colors, the classical stripes and the element of fun that they incorporate into everything.

Definitely getting one of these signature scarves one day!

A Fashion Capital

Chrysler Building
It's not hard to understand why there's a continuous flow of aspiring designers coming to New York every year. New York is a city filled with not only opportunities but endless inspiration. Walking the streets this past week, lit by the gleaming spring sun, I noticed countless sources of inpiration. The color combinations, the gorgeous architecture and the fabulous street style of the citizens made me wish I knew how to draw clothes but seeing as I am clueless in that area, I think I'll stick to styling!

It's spring, darlings! (In NYC anyway..)

Let's just say that if there was ever a time not to blog, it was during the darkest months of the year. Now it's like I've awoken from a blog-free sleep and all of a sudden, it's spring! I'm in love with this new outfit from H&M (everything is available in stores now!) even though it isn't my typical style. It's a bit mainstream, I'll admit, but topped off with my mom's vintage Wayfarers and my new favorite hairstyle, a braided ponytail, I think it still carries my signature. To quote the ever-fabulous Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada, flowers for spring isn't exactly groundbreaking, but it makes me happy so I don't really care! The most important trends are the ones we set for ourselves and feel comfortable in and that's what's going to make you stand out even in the most fashionable of crowds.

This is what I wore yesterday when I explored New York's cozy Greenwich Village. All H&M except for a Zara belt.

Back and (hopefully) better than ever!

Hi everyone!

As you all probably figured out I stopped blogging in January after only having been active for a couple of months. It was all due to a heavy workload in school and a lack of inspiration. Keeping up with the blog simply became too much. However, a recent trip to New York City rekindled the joy of sharing my fashion interest which is why I am happy to say that the blog is back in business! On that note, I warmly welcome you back to J. Kilnes.
