What's not to love?

You know when you flip through the glossy pages of a fashion magazine and allow yourself to drift away into a dream where Vivienne Westwood herself sends you a package with a one of a kind-wedding dress? Okay fine, maybe that scenario will only happen Carrie Bradshaw but I'll take a small dose of that feeling anyday even though for me, the magazine is Vogue and the designer is Miuccia Prada. It sort of happened to me the other day, on a nano-scale and not as amazing, but oh so fun!

If you remember how all my t-shirts would spell J'Adore Prada instead of J'Adore Dior, then you can imagine how it totally made my day to run into these fabulous earrings shown here on my left! Fine, they might be a little too much, but if you ask me, less isn't more unless your favorite color is black, beige or white. No offense to those colors but to me, a little sparkle is never wrong. So, keep that in mind and run to H&M for these fabulous Prada look-a-likes and remember, keep buying Vogue (greatness shouldn't suffer because of a bad economy) and keep dreaming fashion dreams. Everyone can't be Sarah Jessica Parker but I think we all have a fashionista within us longing to get out every once in a while!

"It's not stealing... I simply borrowed without permission."

I think we've all been there when you wake up in the morning without an ounce of fashion inspiration. In my case, that was this morning. Fortunate enough for me, my mom probably has as much if not more fashionista-blood running through her veins as I do which meant that I went over to her closet this morning. Turns out, going through the racks in one of her closets was like being able to pick and choose from the entire Marni for H&M-collection. Not that I mind.

I think that was a very successful collaboration because not only did Marni reach out to a wider crowd, but I think they updated their look. The majority of the pieces still stayed true to the playful prints and innovative thinking that make Marni great, but they had the updated fit and sophistication that H&M is beginning to associate themselves with nowadays.

Today I played with print more than color but I still added a little bit of rustic and fun to what could have turned out to be a very polished look. The nailpolish, #116 from Viva la Diva, and accessories took it to another level.

Glitz, Glamour and a little bit of Greece

Maybe something similar to this?
With prom less than a week away and the dress finally back home after a stay at the tailor's, the only thing left for me to choose is the jewellery. I remember looking at different things in the infinite jewellery department at Henri Bendel's and getting really inspired even with countless weeks to go!

Something that I would like to try is a Grecian-style upper arm bangle to help with the proportions. Even though I don't want to reveal my dress just yet, I can tell you that it has (tasteful) ruffles on the bottom demanding an up-do, dangling earrings and an upper arm bangle instead of regular ones. A lot of eye-catching glitz at the wrists will make the overall look very heavy instead of slim and sleak which is what I'm aiming for.

Any tips on where to find cute bijouteries would be greatly appreciated!

Lets go hit up Madison Avenue!

Last night I went to another graduation party, this time, the theme of the night being Mad Men! The guys suited up in the style of the men at Sterling Cooper, and us girls aimed for either the Joan Holloway-look or the ever-classic Betty Draper one. I chose the latter and was happy for an excuse to dig up an old favorite of mine, that is quite hard to wear yet very sophisticated and summer-y!

I love patterned and multi-colored garments because they are so easy to match! I accentuated the dress's orange flowers with a pair of vintage-looking earrings and used the same system for the cardigan and clutch. The yellow-goes-white heels weren't a hundred percent on point however, I really felt like wearing them, mostly because they are so so comfortable! The heel height is not bad at all and luckily for me, the style was typical for the Mad Men-era making them perfect for last night's event.

Inspiration of the Day

Sorry about the poor updates lately but with the weather being this gorgeous, it's been impossible not to be out and about, enjoying it! It's beautiful out today as well and I met with my friend Vanessa for a while to catch up. As a true believer in the concept that accessories can make or break and outfit, I just had to post a piece about her statement rings! Worn with a pink lace dress, a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and brown-and-gold aviators, the style is casual cute!

Smitten with Sparkle

Worn with an H&M Conscious Collection-
blouse and Prada glasses.
Hi everyone!

So the other day I really got in the mood of prom and dressing up which inevitably revokes the thoughts of jewellery! I'm planning on doing another post about prom-appropriate sparkle in a little while but for now, I just added some glitz to an everyday outfit.

Some treasured possessions of mine are my Rebecca earrings and pendant-necklace. I got them from my parents for my 18th birthday and my American graduation last year and though I don't wear them constantly, I love them. I'm obviously fond of high-end jewellery (name one girl who isn't?) but I feel that bijouteries are more my style since you can vary your style so much more and complete and entire outfit. However, these pieces from the Rebecca Melrose collection are absolutely stunning and no offence to low-budget jewellery-providers, but these catch the light like no 5-dollar earring ever could!

Owning this bangle would fulfill my Rebecca-dream.. Simply gorgeous.

Prepping for Prom

Prom is coming up and I know from previous experience that finding the right dress can be quite tricky. And if you on top of that want to be the only one wearing just that dress on prom night, the choices are narrowed down even more. This means, that finding a dress is not something that ought to be done a week or so before the event. Start early is my main advice!

I went window shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue when in New York but since a Marchesa gown wasn't really in the cards for me, the purpose for the visit was simply in order to get inspiration. Besides, American and Swedish proms differ quite a bit. I get the distinct feeling that swedes aren't as fond of embellishments and outrageous colors.

On the left is me at my American prom last year, wearing a Roberto Cavalli for H&M-gown. At the bottom I've included a sneak peek of the dress I'm wearing this year but for better pics of the entire thing you'll have to wait patiently until prom is over on June 5th!

//Lady in Red//

So like stated below I had somewhat of a clothing dilemma on Sunday. I finally decided though, and this is how it turned out! I don't usually wear red so it was fun to change it up for once and stand out a little in a sea of black, white and nude sequin and lace.
The dress is from the Lanvin for H&M-collaboration a few years back and I just noticed in the Fall 2012-issue of Vogue Collections that Lanvin is doing some similar pieces for the fall. The pricetag will probably have a few more zeros added to it in comparison to the H&M-line but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case anyone was looking to splurge!

Decisions, Decisions...

Going to a party with a 1920's-theme tonight but I'm having trouble deciding on what look to go for. Here are the two options, sweet and girly with pearls or edgy with black and red. It's in a few hours so time will tell and I'll take pics and show you the final decision later!

Don't pince me cuz I don't wanna be awake...

Inspired by yesterday's Louis Vuitton-feel, I dreamt up the perfect spring-outfit! Unfortunately this isn't my property yet(!) but if I keep dreaming of it, hopefully it will be very soon! LOVE the parakeet-print! Need this. Desperately.

Party in Pastels

The truth of the day has got to be that fashion can be available for everyone! I went window-shopping at H&M today and I immediately noticed the new pastel collection (see pics below). Very pretty and feminine, it was quite reminiscent of the S/S12 collection at Louis Vuitton, proving that keeping up with current trends doesn't have to end with an empty savings account. Every season the low-budget chains keep excelling and regarding clothes, I personally prefer to have plenty of outfits that don't cost a bundle and then complement them with high-end shoes and purses. So now that I've proven this availability, there are no excuses not to have fun with fashion...
...no matter whether your wallet demands budget or luxury.

La Città Eterna

At the Spanish Steps

I just realized that my blog wasn't up and running when I went on a February weekend trip to my absolute favorite city in the whole wide world, ROME! The culture, language and food fascinate me more and more everytime I go to Italy and in Rome it is defintely the most prominent with all the historical landmarks spread out across the city. My parents, my friend Karin and I had a glorious four days filled with all of the previously mentioned and it was one of the best trips I've ever taken. I was strutting the streets of the eternal city, enjoying the fabulous weather in my relatively new coat from Miu Miu and a pair of Prada sunglasses perched up on my head.

The P in Prada...

...stands for pastels and pleated skirts this season. I've already expressed my love for the S/S12 Prada collection but I thought I'd show you some of my own pics! These 50's-style skirts are very cute, especially in low-key colors. But something to keep in mind is that there is a fine line between matronly and fashionable in this case. So in order to avoid the previously mentioned and bring some youthful edge to the outfit, I would pair that skirt with high heels and maybe a cool top or say a statement piece of jewellery. The fierce heels from Prada are hard to match, but too amazing for words in my opinion! Only Miuccia could pull off designing a pair of these! Nevertheless, if I owned a pair of these works of art I would put them in a glass case and be able to die happy.. Just saying.

Friday

This is what I wore when going out on Friday and I am absolutely in love with these snakeskin pants! Of course I went to my go-to fashion-provider H&M for this new outfit, both the pants and the top are available in stores now. Paired with Steve Madden-heels and a vintage Dior clutch.
