Cannes Je t'aime

Okay so I know there's been quite a few outfit pics lately but I just had to share this one! For two reasons:

Firstly I'm wearing a tee that says "Cannes Je t'aime" like a real tourist. However I do have an excuse. Last week when I was in Cannes out luggage got lost in the way and I was stranded without any open shops and only able to wear my airplane outfit, oh fun times right? So I went to a tourist shop and purchased this shirt because it was the least dreadful thing in there. Last night I found it though, and I thought it would be a waste for it never to be used! So I wore it.

Second of all, this is the first outfit EVER where I am not wearing anything from H&M and I felt it had to be documented. So here it is.

Heels, skirt, Zara
Leather jacket, Massimo Dutti
Bag, Dior

A Definite Eye-Opener

Have you ever heard of MissCosmetica?
Mia, a friend of mine, is actually the founder of the company that sells fake eyelashes at a reasonable price and since I've spent this past week in Cannes on the French Riviera, I felt it was the perfect time to try them out! I've actually never worn fake eyelashes before so I was a bit nervous about how it'd look on me but I really liked it! It brought with it some dramatic flare and it didn't look too over the top at all which was one of my concerns. Sometimes it's fun to take the normal make-up to a new level!

I just saw that the Swedish magazine Posh featured the lashes and I felt really proud!
You find Mia and can buy the lashes on:

The name on everyone's lips...

...is currently the lovely Lana Del Rey. I've adored the singer ever since the sultry tones of 'Video Games' opened Prabal Gurung's show at Fashion Week. Her sense of style and consistant vintage feel has made her the new muse of the fashion world and this week it was announced that she will be the new face for H&M this fall which I'm very excited about! Check out her style below and simply get inspired!

Last Night's Adventures

I'm in Bastad at the moment, watching tennis and despite the rain my friend Amanda and I are having a blast! Last night we both went for the printed pant-look even though we put our own individual touch to it.

I'm wearing Steve Madden patterned leather pumps with an all H&M ensemble and Amanda is wearing Zara pants and blouse, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and Rizzo pumps.

Not Just Eye Candy

I think Prada's latest fragrance "Candy" is worth purchasing simply for the mods-style bottle design and ad campaign but as icing on the cake, the light, sweet scent takes you back in time, making one long for cotton candy and amusement park trademarks.

Oscar - The One and Only

I went (window) shopping with my mom the other day and as always, her high-end taste ultimately brought me to the more exclusive boutiques in Stockholm. We went to Nathalie Schuterman and with a summer sale going on, there were clothes everywhere and hidden amongst the different shades of grey was a phenomenal Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress. Metallic thread and a feather details on the bottom yet again proved the excellence of this designer and made me reminisce back to my year in the States.

While there I actually had the pleasure of meeting Mr. de la Renta in person because one day, across the pond over in America, my English teacher Dary Dunham and I were talking about fashion after class. When I mentioned who my favorite designer was, Mr. Dunham suddenly mentioned that his wife happened to play bridge with Mr. de la Renta.

So then one day in May, me, three other girls from my English class and Mr. and Mrs. Dunham went into New York City and to Oscar de la Renta’s office and showroom in the fashion district on 550 Seventh Avenue. Walking into his showroom it was a madhouse as the entire staff was preparing for their upcoming ready-to-wear spring show but needless to say, I was in heaven. Just having come home from the Dominican Republic, Mr. de la Renta sat in a chair with a thoughtful look on his tan face contemplating the ruffles on a black dress as his business advisor stood beside him debating whether or not the dress would sell better if it was shorter etcetera. In front of him stood a model and a tailor, both simply awaiting his next move along with ten other people in that room.  While there, we got to see a part of his collection and ask him questions about his work and lastly we were taken on a tour that ended with a sneak-peek of his bridal couture.

Now what makes his work stand out then? Well, what I think makes Mr. de la Renta’s work special is the fact that he always stays true to his design aesthetic about dressing people to make them look their best. In fashion today, everyone is trying to think outside the box and some fashion houses like Jean Paul Gaultier and Commes des Garcons sometimes take it a little to far. Oscar de la Renta’s quest for innovation always results in beautiful, flattering and feminine pieces that, year after year; are still very new and very interesting.

That day in May was most certainly a day that I will never forget and yet another thing that will be unforgettable is the significant work that Mr. de la Renta has done to push fashion forward while still keeping his signature style and philosophy. I know that he will continue to fascinate for years to come and the legacy of Oscar de la Renta will live on forever.
How gorgeous??
