She'sBackAndSheBroughtBling

Vintage Dior Bag, Converse and the rest, H&M
Oh my dear blog, how I keep abandoning you! I'm very proud of this little fashion freezone of mine, where I can write whatever I want (within reason) and just have an outlet for some of the creativity within me! But, it has been difficult to take the time and make the effort and I won't make any promises but I will keep the window for blogging open and maybe a small breeze will bring the joy back on a regular basis.
Today at least, I'm back for a visit!

So, I've graduated. Que strano! And yes, I have changed zip codes. For the next three months I will be living in Perugia, Italy studying Italian, enjoying incredible food, fabulous company and learning how to walk in heels on streets where, maybe a few historical personas but mostly, regular people of another era have wobbled before me!

As you probably know by now, I try to bring fashion with me wherever I go and I try to find budget versions of fashionable pieces created by the blue-blood of the fashion world. My latest shopping excursion brought me to a tiny mall outside the periphery of my city. A Miu Miu iPhone case for my NGH-wish list (Never Going to Happen) found its doppelganger at H&M and also its way around my neck where it has dangled and caught the sunlight for the past week. Bling it on, loves! Xx

Cannes Je t'aime

Okay so I know there's been quite a few outfit pics lately but I just had to share this one! For two reasons:

Firstly I'm wearing a tee that says "Cannes Je t'aime" like a real tourist. However I do have an excuse. Last week when I was in Cannes out luggage got lost in the way and I was stranded without any open shops and only able to wear my airplane outfit, oh fun times right? So I went to a tourist shop and purchased this shirt because it was the least dreadful thing in there. Last night I found it though, and I thought it would be a waste for it never to be used! So I wore it.

Second of all, this is the first outfit EVER where I am not wearing anything from H&M and I felt it had to be documented. So here it is.

Heels, skirt, Zara
Leather jacket, Massimo Dutti
Bag, Dior

A Definite Eye-Opener

Have you ever heard of MissCosmetica?
Mia, a friend of mine, is actually the founder of the company that sells fake eyelashes at a reasonable price and since I've spent this past week in Cannes on the French Riviera, I felt it was the perfect time to try them out! I've actually never worn fake eyelashes before so I was a bit nervous about how it'd look on me but I really liked it! It brought with it some dramatic flare and it didn't look too over the top at all which was one of my concerns. Sometimes it's fun to take the normal make-up to a new level!

I just saw that the Swedish magazine Posh featured the lashes and I felt really proud!
You find Mia and can buy the lashes on:

The name on everyone's lips...

...is currently the lovely Lana Del Rey. I've adored the singer ever since the sultry tones of 'Video Games' opened Prabal Gurung's show at Fashion Week. Her sense of style and consistant vintage feel has made her the new muse of the fashion world and this week it was announced that she will be the new face for H&M this fall which I'm very excited about! Check out her style below and simply get inspired!

Last Night's Adventures

I'm in Bastad at the moment, watching tennis and despite the rain my friend Amanda and I are having a blast! Last night we both went for the printed pant-look even though we put our own individual touch to it.

I'm wearing Steve Madden patterned leather pumps with an all H&M ensemble and Amanda is wearing Zara pants and blouse, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and Rizzo pumps.

Not Just Eye Candy

I think Prada's latest fragrance "Candy" is worth purchasing simply for the mods-style bottle design and ad campaign but as icing on the cake, the light, sweet scent takes you back in time, making one long for cotton candy and amusement park trademarks.

Oscar - The One and Only

I went (window) shopping with my mom the other day and as always, her high-end taste ultimately brought me to the more exclusive boutiques in Stockholm. We went to Nathalie Schuterman and with a summer sale going on, there were clothes everywhere and hidden amongst the different shades of grey was a phenomenal Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress. Metallic thread and a feather details on the bottom yet again proved the excellence of this designer and made me reminisce back to my year in the States.

While there I actually had the pleasure of meeting Mr. de la Renta in person because one day, across the pond over in America, my English teacher Dary Dunham and I were talking about fashion after class. When I mentioned who my favorite designer was, Mr. Dunham suddenly mentioned that his wife happened to play bridge with Mr. de la Renta.

So then one day in May, me, three other girls from my English class and Mr. and Mrs. Dunham went into New York City and to Oscar de la Renta’s office and showroom in the fashion district on 550 Seventh Avenue. Walking into his showroom it was a madhouse as the entire staff was preparing for their upcoming ready-to-wear spring show but needless to say, I was in heaven. Just having come home from the Dominican Republic, Mr. de la Renta sat in a chair with a thoughtful look on his tan face contemplating the ruffles on a black dress as his business advisor stood beside him debating whether or not the dress would sell better if it was shorter etcetera. In front of him stood a model and a tailor, both simply awaiting his next move along with ten other people in that room.  While there, we got to see a part of his collection and ask him questions about his work and lastly we were taken on a tour that ended with a sneak-peek of his bridal couture.

Now what makes his work stand out then? Well, what I think makes Mr. de la Renta’s work special is the fact that he always stays true to his design aesthetic about dressing people to make them look their best. In fashion today, everyone is trying to think outside the box and some fashion houses like Jean Paul Gaultier and Commes des Garcons sometimes take it a little to far. Oscar de la Renta’s quest for innovation always results in beautiful, flattering and feminine pieces that, year after year; are still very new and very interesting.

That day in May was most certainly a day that I will never forget and yet another thing that will be unforgettable is the significant work that Mr. de la Renta has done to push fashion forward while still keeping his signature style and philosophy. I know that he will continue to fascinate for years to come and the legacy of Oscar de la Renta will live on forever.
How gorgeous??

On this very special day I wore a knit dress from Victoria's Secret, a Zara blazer and Marni clogs.

Tra Te E Il Mare

Laura Pausini sings "Between you and the sea" and hearing that song, the longing for the beautiful colors of Southern Europe is inevitable. Last night I went to an event with a mediterranean theme and wore a blue and white maxi dress that hit the nail on the head when it came to following the dressing directions. The necklace (that also comes with matching earrings) looked surprisingly good together with the dress! They're from a pretty unknown line for H&M recently, Water Collection for H&M. So cute and original, a real find!

Fun in the Sun

On Friday it was finally time for midsummer which was amazing as usual! I went to the archipelago with my friends Emma and Hanna and my family and spent three wonderful days there. Tradition as well as a bit of partying made for a lot of laughter and long-lasting memories. Inspired by the color-scheme of summer, I wore a Mediterranean/ethnic-style dress with beading. I don't have great pics of the dress but in this post I did my best to convey the fun we had this weekend! Hope you all had fun as well!

Today

I went for the sporty-chic look today! A glammed-up bomber jacket, a printed tee and tuxedo-style shorts took a crazy turn when matched with my old Marc by Marc Jacobs-sneaker wedges. Gold works perfectly with red wine-shades and that combination is probably one of my favorites. I had fun in this outfit!

Labels and love:

Jacket, shorts and bag, H&M

Speechless

I really am at a loss for words at the moment. I've already gushed about the great gifts I received at my reception but combining gift cards and cash just landed me the best gift in the history of presents! I just got home with this amazing Mulberry bag and I am so happy I could die. I know I state this a lot but,

OH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE!

It's really cool and sort of a fashionable camera bag with gold details that complement the green in an extraordinary way! It's such a Julia bag, it's ridiculous and I'm on clouds right now and I probably will be for the rest of the week.

I think they might know me too well...

I graduated this week! A totally different graduation from my American one last year, yet another event that marks the end of an era. I had a fantastic day from beginning to end complete with a champagne breakfast and a reception for all my friends and family.

Dressed head to toe in white and with the traditional graduation hat it all felt very special and I almost couldn't believe that my time had finally come. I wore a new pair of Chloé heels, a Hogan bag and a dress from last year's H&M Conscious Collection.

I received a lot of beautiful, beautiful gifts but a few stood out amongst the rest. A basket filled to the brim with goodies like Voluspa scented candles, china, tea and a Fashionista book was one of them as well as pink champagne and the book "Icons of Fashion." My friends do know me all too well.

SometimesYouJustNeedALittleBitOfDrama

After many posts of preparation, last Monday it was finally time for prom. My dress paid a visit to the tailor's and came back just the way I had wanted it.

A dress perhaps more suited for a more tropical climate, it definitely stood out amongst all the Grecian goddess dresses! Everyone looked absolutely stunning though, and we all had a great time. My dress and clutch were from yet another great designer collaboration, Matthew Williamson for H&M from a few years back.

Ruffles, sequins and an exceptionally cut back along with a crazy pattern I was worried that the dress would be a little too much but I decided to take on the challenge. I think it turned out quite well, at least I had a great night dancing in it!

I decided to put my hair up in a sporty yet elegant braided ponytail. Because of the ruffles on the bottom of the dress, letting my hair out would made it all too heavy and too much. An updo with statement earrings and a well-balanced make-up complemented the dramatic flare of the dress without making it over-the-top.

It turned out to be a terrific night and feeling good about the outfit was a great start!
